We heart small towns

So yesterday was the actual 4th of July.  We've been to the Carrollton parade several years and James said they always went to the Rockdale parade when he was growing up.  He said almost everyone got to be in the parade, including him for various reasons (cub scouts, marching band... mmmmm)!  Ethie always got lots of candy in Carrollton and liked seeing the horses and high school bands, etc.

We decided to get up early and go to the Marietta parade this year, expecting it to be even more amazing.  It was super crowded and hot, which we expected, but the parade was incredibly long because of all the stinking show cars and beauty queens.  There was only one little band and no candy or prizes.  I don't know if it's because Marietta is bigger or if that's just how parades are now, but it was kind of sad.  We left before it finished.

However, we do enjoy being together :)

  1. Next year, check out the Dunwoody parade. It runs along Mount Vernon Rd, from Dunwoody Club Drive to Chamblee-Dunwoody Rd.
It's also exactly like the parade's James was in when he was a kid - complete with candy throwing, high school marching bands, some old classic cars... no beauty queens :) definitely consider it for next year!
