18-month Lilah girl!

Our Lilah.  What can I say?  She is full of so much personality, spunk, and cuteness--sometimes I just can't believe how seriously adorable she is.

Of course she has her little 18-month old moments (she totally knows how to throw a tantrum)

but mostly, she is just a little cuddly sweetheart whom we are all absolutely in love with!

Our Lilah at 18 months:
  • She is learning so much!  Her favorite words are hi!, bye-bye, nigh-nigh, baby, wa-wa (water), up, down, stop (she tells me this when I play with her hair :), please (or "please, good job!"), cheese, nana (banana), mamaw (Grandma), and of course, dada, mama, and E-E (Ethie).  She also says "oo-oo" if you ask her what an owl says and "woof-woof" if you ask her what a doggy says (although they sound kind of similar :)
  • She LOVES to play dress-up.  She has always loved this!  Anything she can put on her little body, she will.  Her latest favorite thing is shoes.  It's so funny and cute to see her walking around with various shoes on, even if they are huge on her!  She also loves to wear my heels.  What a funny little girl!
She still loves the undies and wears Ethie's shirts almost every night to bed.
Someone gave her a bunch of necklaces and she was in HEAVEN!

In my boots :)

    • She learned to say "baby" and she loves any kind of baby!  She will spend an hour just putting washcloths on her baby or wiping the baby with wipes.  I always see her hugging her babies (dolls or stuffed animals) over her shoulder and patting their backs.  It's so funny to me--where did she learn that?  She also loves real babies now and gets so excited when she sees them!
I don't know why she puts washcloths on their faces, haha!

    So proud of herself!

With a real baby!  Ash and Brandon's cute baby Ariya.  She was in love :)

    Diapering Darth Vader :)

    • She loves cuddling.  She will randomly come up to me and put her head on my shoulder and just want me to hold her for a minute.  I love it so much!  It's probably my favorite thing.  I've been keeping her up a little later at night so that she will sleep in later while I work out in the morning.  She always brings me a book and climbs up on the couch to cuddle with me.  Little sweetheart.

    • She usually wants me to play with her all day and will take our finger to where she wants us.  Once in a while I will catch her playing with Lucy and laughing so hard.  She's also loves tickling, playing chase, jumping up and down, dancing, eating, running, going for walks, playing outside, her binkies (at night) and loving being an 18-month-old!

    E+L

I, who have no sisters or brothers, look with some degree of innocent envy on those who may be said to be born to friends.  ~James Boswell

I am so thankful that Ethan and Lilah have each other.  Ethan loves being the big brother and it brings out all the sweetness and tenderness that is buried inside him.  Lilah loves her big brother and he can make her laugh and smile like no one else can.  They are already friends and love spending time together.  Of course there are times (days!) when I feel like Lilah is constantly crying because Ethan is picking on her.  But I know that's pretty normal for siblings and never having had an older brother, I am still slightly envious of her!  I hope that he will continue to protect her and care about her as he does and that she will always be able to trust him and look up to him.  I just love watching the two of them together--my two little loves!!!
She loves to wash his hair!

Wherever he is sitting, Lilah is usually right next to him :)

He is so watchful of her!

Yes, he loves to hold her!  She (usually) loves it too.

They've started talking/whispering to each other.  It is the. cutest. thing. ever.

One of the favorite things to do together!

    Costa Rica!

No, we didn't go there.  Someday!  But James treated us to the most delicious, homemade, authentic Costa Rican food!  He went on his mission to Costa Rica about 10 years ago and has very fond memories of the food.  And now I see why--it was delicious!!!
I don't know what this is called but it's like black bean dip with fried plantain chips--yumm!
    We are excited!

Black beans and rice with lots of spices and toppings.  So good!!!
Haha, I think Ethie loved it too!

    Status update

Well, Ethie is home from school again today with the cold that won't go away!  And Lilah has been sick and they got my mom sick.  It's been one of those weeks.

So that is our status today.

But I was thinking the other day about some of the updates I've written on facebook and how I don't want to forget them.  I tend to write things on there about the kids right when they happen, so it's fun to go back and read them.  So now I'm putting them on the blog to make sure they won't go away.  And so you all can enjoy them too! :)

Ethie just walked it and said "Mom, you look kind of like a beaver cause you have really big teeth. But I like beavers. They are beautiful. Do I look kind of like werewolf cause I'm so hairy?" Hahaha!

After a week of being sick, Lilah has started wiping her own nose with a tissue. Cutest thing ever.

Fun, crazy time with the kidlets at trunk-or-treat tonight! And Ethie got a touchdown for his team this morning and was super happy! I love Saturdays :)
I poured Ethie some V8 splash and he asked me what number was above his head. It took me a minute to figure out that he's been watching too many commercials, but I told him "3" and he totally believed me :)

Last night we were talking about flying squirrels at the dinner table. I told Ethie they don't have wings, but they have fur under their arms that kinda helps them fly. So he asked if James can fly since he has fur under his arms. Hahaha!

Yesterday at the park, Ethie told me he saw a really cool African-American dog. Then he said those dogs can pull sleds in the snow and I realized he meant an Alaskan dog. Such a funny kid.

Ethie and his friends found my yoga video in the living room and I overheard: "What's yoga? Um... I think it's Spanish for yogurt. Actually, I think it's a very special vegetable. No, I think it's that guy on Star Wars." Hahaha!
Ethie asks me to sing "Hey Dude" every night, but he means "Hey Jude." Love it.

My little baby is pigging out on my grapefruit. And she sucked the life out of a pickle for lunch. Crazy little taste buds

Lilah has started laughing at me when I laugh, which makes me laugh more. It's my new favorite thing to do.

I have to remember all these cute things on sick, miserable days like today.  So there's a year's worth.  Maybe I will do another update next year :)
